Ya'acov Orland's ballad the day of Tel Faher: Reality, myth, poetry

Research output: Contribution to journalReview articlepeer-review

Abstract

Discussing the monumental poetic composition that Ya'acov Orland wrote on the basis of extensive historical research into one of the bloodiest and most disturbing episodes of the Six Day War - the battle for the Tel Faher outpost on the Golan Heights - this article explores the ways in which he sought to contend with the mythic dimensions of the event. Special attention is given to Orland's poetic truth and its complex dialogue with the historic truth as well with the mythic truth that took shape in the national mind.
