Abstract

The water issues involving Israel and its neighbors are complex and complicated. International law can be interpreted in various ways and is sometimes ignored. However, the water problem is getting steadily worse each year, and could create a serious crisis early in the 21st century. There appear to be totally inadequate water supplies available at present for the increasing population and development in the region. Believing that regional cooperation is some way off, and in any case, can provide only limited answers to the problem, the author sees desalinization as the best, though not ideal, solution.
