    Abstract

Conclusions: There is a strong association between cannabis use and suicidal
thoughts and behavior among adolescents, above and beyond the association
with other variables in the study. In view of the dramatic increase in cannabis
use in Israel in recent years, there is a reasonable basis to assume that suicidal
thoughts and behavior rates will rise accordingly. Therefore, there is an urgent
need to prepare for this eventuality among the youth population as well as soldiers in compulsory military service in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
