Abstract

The concepts and methods of the teaching programs in family medicine for undergraduate medical students at the Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv and the Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem are presented. Undergraduate teaching of family medicine at Tel Aviv is concentrated in a three-week clerkship in the final clinical year. Field observation of a family doctor's work demonstrates the spectrum of disease in the community, and the special concepts of family medicine are introduced at small group seminars.
