N2 - Muscle injuries represent a substantial problem for both players and their team. Abdominal muscles rupture is a rare pathology caused by inflammation, degeneration, and weakening of the muscle, due to overuse and trauma. A 24-year-old professional volleyball player complained about left periumbilical pain which appeared during training and game. The physical and ultrasound examination revealed left abdominal periumbilical tenderness and partial tears in his rectus abdominis muscle. Two PRP injections under ultrasound guidance into the site of maximal injury of the muscle tissue, were done. A new ultrasound examination performed two months after the first PRP injection, showed complete resolution of the muscle fibers, so the player could return to practice professional high-level volleyball.
