Abstract

The paper deals with designing finite state machines (FSM) by Nano PLA structures. Due to the devicemissing domination in nano-structures, it is desired to minimize both the area and the number of PLA devices required for the FSM implementation. We propose a solution of the minimization problem. Our solution is based on: a) partition of the FSM for two interacting components; b) transformation of one or two of the component FSMs into a dense form. We show that combining the above techniques provides a significant area reduction in comparison with the straightforward FSM implementation.
