Abstract

The fictious wireless technologies that are expected to be used by the consumers at the 2012 Olympics are discussed. The most important change in the overall wireless technologies in the next few years will be the merger of voice-centric cellular circuit switched delivery and data-centric WLAN, with IP based, best effort packet-switched delivery. The spectators would begin the day by confirming the schedule of events by 4G cellphones or PDA, then activating their electronics tickets so that they can use the express line at the security gate. They will check the weather and look for the least congested route to Wembley Stadium. The stadium network will provide ongoing close-ups and replays, as well as several channel of events taking place at other sites in London's Olympic Park. Every portable unit will have a hard drive with huge capacity, so that the viewers can record the events for later viewing.
