Abstract

The present article aims at presenting al-'Arabī's (d. 1240) thoughts on the Hajj in light of his Sufi predecessors and his own worldview. We shall begin by introducing Qur'ǟnic verses pretaining to the hajj and the sequence of Hajj rites. Then the Sufis' views from the ninth century till the time of Ibn al-'Arabī will be brought forward. Finally, we shall discuss the Greatest Master's own insights regarding essential ideas of the author on the Hajj. (מתוך המאמר‎)
