Abstract

The rate constant of the F + NH3 reaction has been determined in the temperature range 276-327 K, using a discharge-flow mass spectrometric technique. A relative rate method has been employed, using the F + CH4 reaction as a reference reaction. The rate of the F + NH3 reaction was found to increase significantly as the temperature is lowered. The present results are compared with previous published experimental and theoretical results. The inverse temperature dependence reported in this study is significantly stronger than what has been reported until now for any other reaction.
