Abstract
This chapter explores the ethical aspects of the faunal representation in the biblical psalmodic and wisdom literature.First examining the concept of divine care for all creation, including the animal kingdom, it surveys the psalms that depict God as the Creator of all who provides for every animal’s needs and/or illustrate the principle of faith and trust in God and his salvation. It then discusses how the faunal imagery in the wisdom corpus, which exemplifies God’s concern for the animal kingdom, serves to convey ideas relating to proper behavior, maintenance of the social order, relations between the righteous and wicked, etc.
