Abstract
The Master of Science (MSc, or sometimes MS) is a degree conferred by universities in the fields of science (e.g., physics, chemistry, life sciences, mathematics, computer science, etc.), engineering (e.g., civil engineering, automotive engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, etc.), and medicine. Typically, the MSc involves a two-year program comprised of coursework, with or without research culminating in a thesis that demonstrates the student's ability to conduct independent research in their chosen field of study. MSc degrees are important because they allow students an opportunity to pivot fields, contribute to the scientific community, and prepare for successful training or careers in the future.
