    Abstract

The living-museum project is a model for developing environmental awareness among students. The project exposed students in a newly developed city in Israel to the different components of their local environment. Facilitated by their teachers, the students established interactive learning stations at the nature site, in a setting abundant with scenery, flora and fauna. The nature experience served as a basis for cognitive learning, and for a sustainable conservation effort at the site. The experiences derived from this project can be transferred to any urban environment where issues of development and conservation are in conflict.
