Abstract
Criticizes recent scholarly trends that have become fashionable, but that disregard essential aspects of the Holocaust, such as viewing the Holocaust in the context of colonialism or of other genocides, or as an element of German-East European politics. Recommends focusing on the exceptional dimension of the Holocaust, which involves the study of Jewish history, and the conceptions of "world Jewry" and the "Jewish spirit".
