Abstract
In this report, a slick aqueous method of synthesis for Au@ porous Pd core-shell structure on graphene support is formulated. The as-synthesized materials have been thoroughly characterized by different characterization techniques to reveal their discrete nanoscale arrangements. The performance of the as-prepared nanostructures has been evaluated for the oxidation of methanol (MOR) and oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). The combined effect of Au and graphene, as well as the unique nano chain-like structures of Au@ porous Pd, exploits the enhanced electrocatalytic activity towards MOR and ORR for an energy conversion application. This report reveals the determining part of gold (Au) and graphene synergistic effect on the palladium (Pd) matrix towards the energy conversion application for the fuel cell.
