Abstract

The reception of Hicks's Value and capital is not as well documented as other important economics books of that period. In this article I shall analyse the main reviews of Value and capital with special emphasis on the critical reviews. Reference will also be made to Hicks's unpublished correspondence with Hawtrey, Kaldor and Robertson. Finally a consideration of the important issues of communicability and relevance will be undertaken.
