Abstract
Acyl chlorides add readily to 3,3-dimethyl-2-phenylazirine 1, and the products 3 can be converted to functionalized (azido, acetoxy) N-acylaziridines and oxazolines. These conversions are shown to proceed via N-acylazirinium ions. Spectral and mechanistic interpretations are presented.
