The ABCX model—implications for supervision

Abstract

Both supervision and direct practice decision making processes are influenced by various elements which sometimes have an unpredictable effect. The purpose of this paper is to group and conceptualize the major variables which determine the consequences of professional guidance provided by supervision. The four key concepts which emerge from this definition are: (1) Event; (2) Perception of the event; (3) Resources to meet the event; (4) Effective change.
