Abstract
Ammonium trichloro (dioxyethylene-O,O') tellurate(IV) (AS-101) was sythesized by refluxing tellurium(IV) chloride and ethylene glycol in acetonitrile, or by refluxing tellurium(IV) chloride and ammonium chloride in ethylene glycol. A mechanism for the reaction is suggested. X-ray data for AS-101 are given. Replacing ammonium chloride by potassium chloride yielded the potassium salt; however, with sodium chloride the sodium salt was not obtained.
