Abstract
2D transition metal carbides, nitrides, and carbonitrides, or MXenes, have a changeable structure and rich surface chemistry. MXenes’ physical and chemical variety makes them a promising 2D material with many applications. MXenes were first discovered in 2011, and since then, several synthetic pathways have been developed, with progress made toward industrial-scale techniques of manufacturing MXene nanosheets and derivative products. Physical and chemical features of MXenes are examined in depth, along with the important synthesis aspects and operating circumstances that affect them. Extensive summaries of the large-scale synthesis pathways and antioxidation tactics of MXenes are also provided with an eye toward future advances and practical uses. In conclusion, the problems and possible technologies for large-scale production and stable storage of MXenes are discussed, along with a basic overview of the procedures for their synthesis.
