Abstract

Here attention has been focused on preparation of hematite (α-Fe 2O3) nanostructures with variable morphology by simple hydrothermal method and to study the effect of morphology on their magnetic properties. Resultant products were characterized by XRD analysis. Morphological analysis was done by Scanning Electron Microscopy. The HRTEM patterns show the well crystalline nature. Magnetic property study was done by SQUID measurement. In both the cases remenence and coercivity shows strong dependence on their morphological attributes of the nanocrystal. The temperature dependent magnetization from 5k to 300K at ZFC and FC mode, under an applied magnetic field 200Oe was investigated and the characteristic curves show that it is also sensitive to the shape variation.
