Abstract

Flavonoids are becoming very popular because of their many health-promoting effects. Different compounds comprises the flavonoids; among them, flavones is a group of oxygen-containing heterocycles. Members of the flavone class have been associated with a wide variety of biological activities and may be useful in the treatment of certain diseases. This chapter explains the biological significance as well as synthesis and isolation of flavones.
