Abstract

The substrate-free crystallization of distorted hexagonal barium titanate thin films was discussed. The substrate-free crystallized films displayed a small but measurable pyroelectric effect and do not exhibited phase transitions in the 25-423 K temperature range. Analysis revealed that substrate-free crystallized BaTiO3 represented a unreported crystallographic modification of BaTiO3.
