Abstract
Morphological changes of human blood platelets kept for 2 hours in various hypotonic NaCl solutions, and subsequently restored to isotonic surroundings, were studied. Cells which had changed into transitional forms with swordlike processes in NaCl concentrations of 0.40% - 0.24% could be returned to their normal morphological state. Cells which developed swordlike processes in NaCl concentrations of 0.24% or less were unable to revert to the normal state, and disintegrated into thrombocyte ghosts.
