Abstract
The kinetics of intermetallic growth in the Cd-Ni system with high value of volume dilatation ΔV/V0 was studied depending on applied hydrostatic pressure in the range 0.1-50 MPa. Non-monotonic pressure dependence of the phase growth rate was found and described as a result of stress generation and relaxation effects. From the kinetics of intermetallic growth under various low pressures the interdiffusion coefficients D̃ and kinetic coefficients β were calculated. Real stresses inside the growing intermetallic and at the interfaces were evaluated as 30 and 10 MPa, respectively.
