Abstract

Simulation studies were carried out to address the dynamic properties of granular materials. As a result, a previously unknown transport mechanism in a model of a vibrated granular system was identified. In particular, it was found that the induced flow rate varies with height within the granular layer and oppositely directed flows occur at different levels.
