Abstract

The hope of returning to the promised Holy Land was a central motif in the massages of the various heralds and leaders of the messianic movement that arose as a result of the violent anti-Jewish riots throughout Spain in the summer of 1391, when many communities were destroyed and a great number of Jews forced to convert to Christianities.
