Abstract

Despite the widely accepted view that polytheistic belief began to disappear in the early Byzantine period, especially in the Holy Land, the birthplace of Christianity, a scrupulous examination of the historical and archaeological sources proves that, even in the Holy Land, Christianity prevailed slowly, and was not always successful in eradicating idolatrous practices.
