Abstract

In a city with a strong military character, like Emmaus, where, during the great Jewish revolt against Rome, soldiers from the Legio V Macedonica probably live together with veterans, it is possible that those people, who were worshipping the gods of Ba'albek, were the originators of the establishment of the supreme cult of Jupiter Heliopolitanus, in the midst of the urban pantheon appearing clearly in the IIIrd Century CE.
