Size-dependent diffusion penetrability of nanomaterials

Abstract

The theoretical analysis of size-dependent diffusion penetrability of grain boundary nano-networks is presented. The results of experimental measurements of diffusion characteristics in nano-structured materials (NSM) are compared with the known diffusion data for coarse-grained polycrystals. The size-dependent and structure-sensitive diffusion properties of NSM, correlated with their non-equilibrium structure, are shown and analyzed. The principal unsolved problems are indicated and some topics of future research are outlined.
