Abstract

A review of single-molecule methods in chemistry is made to provide a rapid description of the main technical approaches. Topics discussed include fluorescence spectroscopy as a tool for molecular conformation and fluctuation measurements, single-molecule data acquisition and analysis methods, data analysis methods, single-molecule fluorescence studies of protein folding and conformations at equilibrium, and single-molecule protein folding under nonequilibrium conditions.
