Abstract

Shortest Path Algorithms have been used in the recent past for finding the optimal path in a network. These types of algorithms can also be used for predicting the output of metabolism in a biological pathway. The shortest path methods can be classified accordingly on the basis of the algorithms and the problems acted upon by them. The accuracy of these algorithms can be found out by evaluating their time complexity. In this review, we analyzed the application of shortest path methodologies for analyzing metabolic, signal transduction and gene regulatory networks.
