Abstract
The piece "Seven Cadenzas" commissioned by Levinsky College of Education for the Carmel Quartet. The work seeks to take the listener into the intimate space of the quartet, a space in which codes of collective behaviors arise, resulting from the uniqueness of each musician. In the work, the transition between the different spaces preserves a fixed pattern: from harmonious group performance to a sound that surrounds a single note in each instrument, a note that is decorated in a micro-tonal way. This texture separates into two different spaces: the concrete space; "Here and now" in the form of an idyllic cadence for string instruments, and fictional space; a recorded and processed image that is dispersed by loudspeakers and functions as an anonymous echo emanating from the surroundings. The process is repeated seven times while disengagement is presented with a different instrument. In the background, the voice of the composer Yosef Tal explains the development of music in the 20th century.
