Abstract
The theory of solvability is applied to the Saffman-Taylor experiment in the 900 geometry. We find that in the limit of zero surface tension the parameter λ which governs the width of the finger approaches 0.85 which agrees very well with the experimentally observed value. We also discuss the scaling of the parameter λ.
