Abstract
As opposed to Gottlieb and the tens of thousands of Jews in his situation, Bankier's volume
deals with those Jews who did return to their countries of origin after World War II. The
book's fourteen chapters arise from papers presented at an international conference held at
Yad Vashem in May 2001, and together they provide us with a comparative overview of
attitudes towards the reconstituted Jewish communities in various European european
