Abstract
An admixture of [U(6)×U(6)]β representations under a common U(12) parentage provides the required amount of D coupling for high-energy scattering. Production of N*(1400), classified in this framework, is found to be consistent. (DF)A, GAGV, and the ratio of magnetic moments are calculated for the nucleon; consistency with mass splitting is checked. In an appendix, an alternative scheme is discussed in which the admixture is derived from B=1 states involving qq̄ pairs.
