Abstract

A relativistic formalism for many quasielastic nuclear reactions is discussed. Here relativistic effects arise from the change in nucleon Dirac spinors in the medium. This change reduces the analyzing power in (p, p′) and the RPA enhancement of the spin longitudinal response in (p, n). It also may impact the extraction of nucleon axial and strange quark currents from quasielastic neutrino scattering data.
