Abstract

A phenomenological model for reactions of solute redox couples at electrodes covered with conducting polymer films has been proposed. The mechanism and kinetics of these reactions are strongly dependent on the difference in value of standard potentials of solute redox couple and polymer film under investigation. Experimental investigations of the voltammetric behaviour of various redox couples at polythiophene-, poly-p-phenylene- and poly-o-phenylenediamine-modified electrodes are in qualitative agreement with this model.
