Abstract
A theory of the proximity effect in inhomogeneous dirty and pure superconductors is presented. We have obtained the critical magnetic field as a function of temperature and of the characteristic length of the inhomogeneity. The angular dependence of the critical magnetic field has also been investigated. We have obtained the critical magnetic field for plane, linear, and local inhomogeneities. The theory is based upon microscopic equations of superconductivity.
