Abstract

The use of tunneling spectroscopy and topographic measurements to observe the proximity effect (PE) in yttrium barium copper oxide (YBCO) junctions was discussed. The proximity induced gap in Au was found to decay exponentially with the distance from YBCO facets axis. The proximity induced order parameter appeared to be isotropic of the dominant s-wave symmetry. The interface gap was found to correlate well with the observed proximity induced s-wave order parameter in YBCO.
