Abstract

A stable colloidal solution of YSZ is prepared sonochemically. The solvent used for its creation is ethanol. The average particle size in solution is 2.8 nm. The colloidal particles obtained by the sonication in ethanol keep their amorphous structure and have a water content similar to that of the crystalline hydrous YSZ obtained by the solvothermal method. Fully crystalline YSZ particles are obtained after calcination at 600 °C. The particles are narrowly distributed and loosely aggregated, with an average particle size of 6.3 nm.
