Abstract

The ongoing and long-term archaeological research and excavation project at Tell es-Safi/Gath (Fig. 9.1) has revealed the presence of a significant Early Bronze (EB) occupation at the site (Maeir 2012a; Shai et al. 2014). While the entire EB I–III sequence is probably represented, spanning from ca. the second half of the fourth to the first half of the third millennia BCE – based upon the ceramic typo-chronology of the region and systematic surface survey at the site (Uziel and Maeir 2005, 2012a, 2012b), our excavation activities at the site on this period have largely concentrated on the EB III...
