Abstract
A postbaccalaureate program is a continuing education program designed for individuals who have completed an undergraduate degree and are interested in pursuing an advanced graduate degree. They are useful for individuals who want to gain more experience in a field before deciding whether or what type of graduate degree to pursue, and they are also helpful for individuals who may be switching fields or need to gain more prerequisite experience in a certain field before applying to a formal graduate degree program in that field. This chapter reviews types of postbaccalaureate programs, the advantages and disadvantages of pursuing postbaccalaureate training, and when this step is most appropriate and beneficial in one's path.
