Abstract

We investigate the π-σ meson exchange corrections to the solar p + p → d + e+ + ν fusion rate. This correction enhances the pp S-factor by about 1.5%. Various standard proton-proton and deuteron wave functions are used for the numerical evaluation of the effect.
