Performance of a nonparametric power allocation algorithm for wideband terrestrial digital communication

Abstract

A power allocation algorithm used to regulate the desired traffic channel transmit power in a power controlled wideband terrestrial digital communication system is described and analyzed. It is investigated whether the power allocation algorithm can maintain a mean frame error rate (FER) of about 1%, a necessary condition to ensure high quality voice and high throughput data.
