Abstract

Device to Device communication feature in Next Generation communication networks helps develop small, localized network connecting large number of devices. It provides communication between the two devices that are in close vicinity without traversing data to any base station, thereby reducing the traffic load on base station, and improving overall network spectral efficiency using frequency-reuse. In this paper, we developed a mathematical model using stochastic geometry in uplink-mode. From the results it is clear that at low user densities transmission capacity is high and after reaching an optimal point, further increase in device-to-device density led to a paradoxical decline in transmission capacity. To ensure the validity of our theoretical model, we conducted an array of simulation experiments across a spectrum of device-to-device user densities.
