Abstract
Shem Tov ibn Shaprut’s commentary on the Guide of the Perplexed was considered lost, until a fragment was recently found in the HUC library. The fragment includes the commentary from the introduction until chapter 51. In it, Shem Tov cites various other commentators, some anonymously. He also occasionally cites Joseph Ibn Caspi’s Commentary to the Guide , criticizing it for its radical reflections. The article reviews Shaprut’s commentary, and discusses a few of its themes
