Abstract

The use of dark- and photo-electrochemical techniques, i. e. use of semiconductor/electrolyte configurations, to obtain information on electrical and optical properties of semiconducting samples, is discussed. A sequence of measurements is given which allows extraction of information even on poorly formed samples, and the experimental techniques needed for such measurements are outlined. Examples are given to illustrate the methods. The unique aspects of (photo)electrochemical characterization are pointed out.
