Abstract
A study of the kinetics of laser-induced pattern formation in a glass containing Ag clusters was presented. A method for the formation of gratings was also described. The method included femtosecond laser excitation of electrons in the metal cluster, energy transfer from the hot electrons to phonons, and cluster heating above the glass matrix softening temperature.
