Abstract

We studied theoretically the optical phase conjugation (OPC) in Silicon - Smectic A Liquid Crystal (Si-SALC) optical waveguide (WG). We solved simultaneously the Maxwell equations for the optical modes propagating in the Si-SALC WG and the hydrodynamic equations for smectic layer displacement. It is shown that the optical phase conjugation of the signal WG mode is possible when this mode interacts with the smectic layer displacement dynamic grating created by two coupled pumping WG modes. The electric field of the phase conjugate TM even mode is evaluated.
