Abstract
Nearly fifteen years ago, Moshe Weinfeld identified the text within
4Q434a1 as a grace after meals prayer, intended specifically for use
in a house of mourning.2 This classification has been maintained in
published research by Florentino García Martínez,3 James Davila,4
and David Seely.5 Additionally, Weinfeld himself reiterated his
identification in the official publication of the document in 1999.6
